Birds of a Feather

I had a special request from J to make a wedding card with two puffins on it.  J even sent me pictures of puffins she wanted on her card.  As most of my Cricut-made cards are on the cute side, I wanted to incorporate a touch of elegance by using a purple card base and a purple damask-like patterned paper.  It's the first time I bought a pack of non-colourful, kiddish paper and it sure came in handy.  J was thrilled with the card, and I'm so pleased!

Stand Up Wedding Card

The second card I made during my "pop up card" phase is this one.  Not sure if this is technically a pop up card, but you can see that when you open up the square card, it'll stand up.  Contrary to the Pop Up Stack of Gifts card, I decorated all 3 interior faces.  To keep it tightly closed, I again used ribbon.

Outside of the card, tied with a ribbon to prevent popping up.

Black & White Wedding Card

Summer is fast approaching so that means wedding season again!  I have a couple to go to in a few weeks and I decided I won't wait until the last minute this time to make their cards.

This is a card I saw a while ago that I knew I had to make.  It's simple (who doesn't love simple?) with no complicated cuts, yet it can incorporate different patterns, textures, and embellishments.  I made 2 very similar versions (though they won't both be going out), but I can't decide if I want a pop of colour, or if I want to keep the card monochromatic.

"Half Tri-Fold" Card?

Um, not sure really what it's called so let's just call it that for now.  If I could remember where I saw this idea from, I'm sure the name would be there.  But I don't.

This is the other card I will be using for one of the two upcoming weddings.  Again, notice the simplicity of the card, yet it doesn't look boring.  Layers are an easy way to really dress up a card.

Take a look at the pictures of the front and back of the card, and when it's opened up.

Wedding Bells

...on multiple layers of paper, with some embossing and glitter.  I wish I had the patience to use glitter more often.  I just don't like having to wait for the glitter to dry, apply a sealer on top, and wait again.  If anyone has a suggestion, please let me know.  In the meantime, I'll have to "pre-make" some glittered items if I want to use them in my cards.

Congrats C & R!

I can finally share this card that I made for my friends C & R who were married yesterday in sunny Tampa!  It's one of my favourite wedding cards and I hope they'll like it too.  In retrospect I probably should have used red instead of pink as her theme colour and her dress had a dash of red (see the jewelry I made for her here).  But my first instinct is always pink :)

Congrats C & R!

Cheers!

I was asked to make a wedding card, and the bride is a red wine specialist.  Eeek, I couldn't think of anything other than a bottle of wine, a wine glass, and maybe some grapes?

Cascading Hearts

In case you're wondering why I managed to remember to update my blog for so many days straight, it's because I JUST discovered the "schedule" option that Blogger has.  Duh!  Go on, you can laugh!

Today's card is a small but lovely wedding card I made.  I'm loving the cascading pop up hearts and the colour scheme.  You?

Sweetheart Silhouette Card

The next card I want to share with you is a wedding card for Crystal & Jacky.  It was made with the Cricut Sweetheart cartridge on multiple layers of cardstock.  It's not clear from the picture but the card is on shimmery cardstock.  Hope they like it!

Congrats Daisy & Christian!

Hubby's cousin got married overseas, and while we weren't able to attend, I did make a couple of cards for Hubby's family to bring with them there.

A more romantic card, for his family to give:

Cute little love birds

Here's the other card I made for the same couple, requested by someone else.  I took a completely different approach and made this card cute.  Do you recognize these birds from a previous card?

Shadow wedding card

I love it when I'm asked to make something without any restrictions.  In this case, all T asked for was a wedding card and he was incredibly pleased with this:

This gate card was kept closed with a jacket with the couple's name.
This is what it looks like without the name jacket.
And opened up.

I'm back....again!

I can't believe I've let almost 7 months pass without updating this blog.  If you're still visiting my blog, you're a trooper, cuz you probably visit more than I do!  What must I do in order to make sure I stay on track?

Yesterday I sent off a set consisting of necklace, bracelet and earrings to C for her wedding.  She asked me to make it last year and as you can see I am a procrastinator in all areas - even in my hobbies [blush].

Without further ado, here is her set:

The bracelet that I love...so much so that I made an extra one!

By comparison, the necklace is much simpler, because her wedding gown has thick, red halter straps.

And even simpler earrings...(sorry for the poor lighting)

This is the original version of the necklace.  I like it a lot actually, and I think it'd go well with a strapless dress, but we had to modify it for the halther gown.

Hope you like it, C!

Birdcages

Does anyone know why birdcages are used at weddings?  Because they imply a sense of being trapped after marriage, or because they imply love birds?  I never really knew but used one nonetheless at my own wedding!

But regardless of their real meaning, birdcages are often seen on wedding cards, so I thought I would make my own version of it.

I do...

Unlike the past few years, this year we only had one wedding to attend!  The bride likes Winnie the Pooh, so Pooh she gets!  When I don't have templates for the design, it's a little more painful to put together but I think it was worth it!  I think they were impressed too!  Congrats, C&P!

Embossed a lot!

Ever since I made my first embossed card, I've been in love with the technique. Here are some more I've made:

An elegant wedding cake

I made two wedding cards centered around a wedding cake with pearls. One cake, 2 colour schemes, 2 looks. I'm liking that cake - I think I'll experiment with some more variations and let you be the judge of what works best.

Summer means weddings!

I think the first wedding card I made was this strawberry couple card. Simple, yet cute. I'm sure I'll be revistting this design in the future, but maybe I'll spice it up a bit. Thoughts?

Keroppi in love!

I made this card for a Keroppi fanatic's wedding ceremony. It was a lot of work putting the shapes together but I think it was worth it! These cute frogs would totally work for a kids card too!

Dove is in the air

Doves have always been a sign of love so here they are for this new wedding card I made, holding onto a ribbon and the wedding rings. I've left space at the bottom for the names of the bride and groom, or any other message you want. I might also try another version with solid coloured paper (shiny, perhaps) instead of the 2 patterneds papers, for those who prefer simpler designs.
